A Brampton mother wants the Peel District School Board to review its relationship with police after her 14 year old son was wrongfully arrested at his school. Carshel Knowles spent the night on a concrete bench in a holding cell before they admitted it was based on inaccurate information and dropped the charges. Knowles said he was in first period drama class when his principal called him out to the hall. Carshel didn't even know what was happening when he got out of the class two police offers put him in handcuffs and said he is under arrest. It wasn't until when he talked to his mom later that he found out why he had been arrested. They had arrested him because there was a robbery at a store across the school involving a gun. In the surveillance camera they had thought they had seen someone that looked like him but then found out that they could not clearly see the face. Carshel's mom was really mad about this that she changed Carshel's school. "They didn't have to arrest him at school" Thomas said.
I think that this situation was not handled correctly by the police or the school, because first of all the police did not have clear evidence that Carshel was the one who had committed the robbery. Also they should not have arrested him in school in front of his friends when they did not even know that he had done this action for sure. I think, that something like this can cause kids to not even go to school, because they think that something like this would happen to them, when they didn't even do anything in the first place.
