A young Asylum seeker who snuck into Canada disguised as an old man told an Immigration and Refugee Board hearing Thursday he was coached to lie by smugglers in China. He is being held in custody because he is a liar and a possible flight risk. The man boarded an Air Canada flight from Hong Kong last October wearing the elaborate mask, then removed it during the flight, prompting a warning from the Canada Border Services Agency. The claimant's lawyer said the only reason his client remains in detention is because the government wants to make an example of the man. The man admitted he lied to the Canada Border Service agency. He said, "The snakeheads told me I had only elementary school." His lawyer said, "He is afraid of the snakeheads, he did that, he did what he was told."
I think that this is a very important situation because people can disguise them self and go on a plane and possibly be a big risk to the plane. The government needs to get security to work harder so that they do not have to deal with these type of risks.
