In the past couple years the death's on Canadian roads have gone down significantly. They have confirmed that in 2009 the 2,209 people that died is the lowest level since they started taking the stats in 1965. The number of deaths in 2009 is just one-third of the peak year of road tragedies in 1973 when 6,706 people died. Since 1973 the number of deaths has been decreasing every year. Just in the past decade the annual road deaths has dropped 26 percent. This decrease is close to identical to what is happening in the United States. This is due to people being aware of being sober while driving because of all the ads and new laws that are coming in.
I think this is great, people are starting to recognize that they shouldn't put there life in danger because they are drinking and driving. This is great because now people are not putting there life and also the life of others that are driving at risk. All the new laws have really impacted the outcome, the new laws with not being able to be on the phone, and all the other new fines that have been instigated.
