Saudi Arabia cracks down on ‘driving while female’

In Saudi Arabia, a 32 year old women named Mana Al Sharif was arrested for driving because she is a women. Laws in Saudi Arabia do not let women drive cars. Al Sharif started a rally against this and made a Facebook group and events on Twitter to get women to drive on June 17th in Saudi Arabia. Al Sharif started to drive last week around her hometown and posting a video on YouTube of her doing it. She ended up getting caught while driving and got charged with "inciting women to drive" and "rallying public opinion". Usually when women get caught for driving they are taken to the police for a couple hours then are released to there brother or father after they had promised not to drive again. However, Al Sharif was held for 10 days and had much harsher treatment.

I think that this is a very big discrimination not letting women drive shouldn't be a law, women should have rights to drive. I think what Al Sharif is doing is really good she has started awareness about the situation and people all over the world are starting to recognize what kind of women rights Saudi Arabia has. I hope that they change this law soon because I remember when I went to Saudi Arabia they don't even let women sit in the front seat they have to sit in the back seat I think this is just pure sexism.

Looser Ontario booze laws to take effect June 1

Changes to Ontario liquor law will take place on June 1st just in time for summer. The changes in the law include people are allowed to walk around with beer at festivals rather than having to be under a beer tent. Servers will be allowed to carry drinks on public sidewalks to licensed areas. The liquor hours for wedding has been extend till 2am. Also customers are allowed a free drink if they are celebrating a special occasion.

I think making looser laws on drinking is not a good idea because as you have probably seen in my recent posts deaths on the roads have gone down dramatically and they should keep it that way. Making the laws looser are gonna cause a lot more crashes and deaths on the road once again. Also the law that lets people walk around with drinks can cause more younger guys to start drinking because they see people older and people like there parents drinking will make them want to drink more.

Man dies after Mississauga gas-and-dash

A 62 year old Hasgeb Atifeh Rad has died from a gas-and-dash. Hasgeb ran after a car to stop as it fled the gas station. Hasgeb hung onto the car but the driver went faster and he fell down and his head got ran over by the car he was rushed to a trauma center in Toronto but he died in the hospital on Thursday. The license plate of the killer has said to have had been covered by tape or toilet paper. The suspect is described as a black male in his 20's.

I think that gas stations need to do something about these kind of situations because they don't really have great security. Also I don't know how someone could do this, stealing gas and leaving is one thing but running over someone and just leaving him there is just on another level. I don't know how that guy could live with all the guilt he's gonna get from this one event. I hope that the police find this guy fast before he starts doing more crimes.

Teen arrested after dad shot with arrow for taking away cellphone

A teenage girl in Washington State has been arrested for shooting her dad with an arrow after her dad had taken her phone away. Detectives' say the 15 year old girl used a hunting bow and arrow to shoot her dad with after she had been grounded and phone taken away from her. The dad was airlifted to a hospital in Seattle about 55 km from Tahuya, Washington, he was listed in serious condition. The teenage girl fled into the forest behind her home with the same bow and arrow but police surrounded her and arrested her for first degree assault.

I think that this is a horrible situation, this just shows what the world is coming to teenage kids are shooting there parents that have raised them just because they took away there phone. Technology is really good in many ways but also is destroying the new days because things like this would have never happened before because cell phones weren't that big of deal. Nowadays teenagers can't live without there cell phones or I pods and etc.

Many Blockbuster outlets closing

The big company blockbuster is going through hard times right as time is changing and technology is becoming a lot better. Blockbuster before was known as biggest selling movie rentals but nowadays you will see many of there shops closing. For many years blockbuster has had stores at basically every corner of the GTA, but now they will be selling off there stock and closing down there stores. The remaining stores will be for sale. Some reports show that as many as 140 stores will be shut down and the rest will be sold. Approximately 1,400 workers are going to be left non employed because of this.

I think this movement is really showing the change in culture and technology in our world. Things like Netflix and being able to buy movies online without having to leave your house is changing our every day world. People are becoming too lazy to go to there stores so they use the internet. This is not good for the economy because now people are losing there jobs to often. This is something that can cause a recession.

Sony suffers hacker attack in Canada

Sony has once again been hacked this time there database at a Sony Ericsson online store for mobile phones in Canada has been hacked, this time the hackers were able to extract information of over 2,000 customers. Idahca, a Lebanese hacking group admitted they did it and said that the information of these people have been leaked on Facebook and Twitter. The group said that they could have extracted for more information such as credit card details but decided not to. This hack is coming after Sony just got hacked at there Greek music service data base that Sony revealed in a blog post Monday. Also coming after the big PlayStation Network hack in April which mad the Network down for almost a month.

I think that Sony really needs to completely overhaul all of its security and have to make it a lot bigger. First in April people hacked the PlayStation Network giving out the details of millions of people and possibly credit card numbers, and now getting there mobile phone company getting hacked. They really need to step up there security or people are going to completely stop buying products from Sony because there reputation is going down significantly.

Sunscreen could raise risk of birth defects

Pregnant women are probably going to want to stop using sunscreen, as it can cause birth defects. Many sunscreens contain retinyl palmitate this increases the risk of birth defects. The same ingredient is also found in acne medicine which has also been linked to birth defects. Not only does sunscreen cause birth defects it can also harm you in many other ways. It can harm your hormones and nano-sized ingredients. These can lead to reproductive and developmental problems. The reason the sunscreen causes birth defects is because it is a typical form of Vitamin A that this skin converts to retinoids.

I think that this is really bad, many babies could have been born with birth defects because of sunscreen. The sunscreen companies should really write this on there sunscreen they should put a warning label to make sure people know that it can harm there babies. I think that because of this sunscreen companies can actually get sued because there products are actually harming people more than it is helping people. This is a very bad situation sunscreen companies should try to find another substance to use in there product or put a label so people know and so they don't take the risk.
